Cazes Law is the publication of BLG | Business Law Group, a business and tax law firm founded by Dale B. Cazes. We write for owners, executives, and fiduciaries of small to mid-sized companies, most of them in Oklahoma and Texas, and for the CPAs and advisors who send them to us.
The attorney behind the firm
Dale B. Cazes is the founder and principal attorney of BLG. He has more than 25 years of experience in business law, tax strategy, and commercial disputes, holds an LL.M. in Taxation from SMU Dedman School of Law, and is licensed in Oklahoma and Texas. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. The firm has offices in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Dallas, and Fort Lauderdale.
Why this site exists
Most business problems do not arrive neatly labeled. A contract issue turns into a tax question. An ownership dispute triggers a buyout. A succession plan reveals estate-tax exposure. The owners and advisors we talk to are usually trying to answer one question: is this serious, and when does a lawyer become cheaper than the mistake?
The articles here are organized by topic, with a heavy emphasis on Oklahoma tax matters: Oklahoma Tax Commission audits and protests, sales and use tax, tax warrants, pass-through entity elections, and the federal issues underneath all of it. Each article explains how the issue actually works, what makes it bigger than it looks, and where the practical decision points are.
How the articles are produced
Articles carry the byline of the firm's editorial desk. They are researched against primary sources, principally the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the Oklahoma Legislature, Oklahoma courts, the IRS, and the U.S. Tax Court, and each article lists the sources it relied on. Where an article revisits an earlier development, it says so and gives the date the coverage reflects.
What this site is not
Nothing here is legal advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Every situation turns on its own facts. If an article describes a problem sitting on your desk, the right next step is a conversation with a lawyer who can look at your documents, not a decision made from an article.
The firm's main site is at blgattorney.com. You can also reach the Oklahoma City office through the contact page.
